If we’re being honest…I may be slightly addicted to online clothes shopping. There’s just something about being able to visit all my favorite store’s websites in the comfort of my own bed that I love. And receiving the package full of fun, new clothes a week later is also amazing. However, I know that shopping online can sometimes be frustrating and expensive. No one likes spending their time + money on new clothes, waiting for them to arrive, only to be disappointed by something that doesn’t fit or look good on your body.

I’ve learned a few different hacks during my time of shopping online and am going to share them with you all today. These tips will make your online shopping experience a TON easier, and you’ll kick yourself in the butt for not knowing about them sooner.

3 Hacks for Online Clothes Shopping on a BudgetOnline Clothes Shopping Hacks

1. Cash Back Rebates

This online clothes shopping hack literally changed my life. I was so shocked to find out that some of my most favorite retailers like Ulta, Bath & Body Works, Sephora, and Forever 21 offered cash back on online purchases. (If you’re still not understanding: you can get MONEY BACK on purchases you make online at your favorite stores. Score!)

My favorite site to get cash back at is Ebates, and I’ve been using it for almost a year now. Ebates gets a commission from stores whenever they make a sale, and instead of keeping the commission, they give it back to you, the consumer!

Ebates easily installs into your web browser and displays itself as an icon. Whenever you see the Ebates icon light up in your browser tab, you know that you are on a retailer’s website that partners with Ebates, which means you can earn cash back on whatever purchase you are about to make. All you have to do after seeing the Ebates icon light up is click on it, and click the big button that says “Activate Cash Back.” That’s it!

Any purchases you make while Ebates is activated will translate into cash back into your Ebates account. You can log into your Ebates account at any time and see what your cash back balance is. Then, Ebates will send you your cash back as a check or directly via PayPal. Ebates also has certain “double cash back” stores that offer a higher percentage of money back.

Another amazing thing about Ebates is that it constantly keeps you updated on all the best deals + sales happening at your favorite stores. I’ve saved so much money by just checking Ebates for free shipping + coupon codes alone.

2. Like to Know It

Ready for your mind to be blown AGAIN? Prepare to meet your new best friend: Like to Know It.

If there are any bells going off in your head, it’s probably because you’ve seen the words Like to Know It a million times before. Most of the biggest bloggers on social media these days use Like to Know It, and mention it regularly on their own blog + social media.

So what’s the big deal? And why is everyone always linking to Like to Know It anyways?!

Like to Know It is an innovative application that allows people to easily shop pieces that their favorite fashion bloggers/influencers post. Have you ever gone to a famous Instagrammers page and seen the hundreds of comments from people asking where a particular dress/top/bag is from? Well, Like to Know It fixes all of that.

After downloading the Like to Know It application, you can screenshot photos from any of your favorite bloggers/Instagrammers to shop. Once you screenshot someone’s photo who is using Like to Know It, you will get a notification from the Like to Know It app that you can now shop this outfit. When opening the app, you will be able to see the exact pieces/clothing that the blogger was wearing, with everything easily linked in order to visit the online shop + purchase. How COOL is that?!

Online Clothes Shopping

My online shopping has changed so much after discovering Like to Know It. I never have to lust after another fashion blogger’s outfit now, because I can find out exactly where they bought everything and see if I want it for myself. The confusion is completely taken away and it’s GREAT.

I personally use Like to Know It for my blog + social media, so if you’re ever wondering where I got something I’m wearing in an Instagram post, just screenshot it and open the Like to Know It app!

3. Find Hidden Discounts

Brands are very strategic about the discounts and coupon codes they distribute. Sure, there are some sales that are widely advertised, and you probably find out about them through an email newsletter. But there are often coupon codes and deals going on all the time, they are just somewhat hidden.

Coupon codes can be hidden in different ways. One way to find them is to check the brand/retailer’s social media platforms for any promotions. A lot of times, brands will run promotions exclusively for their social media followers to show their gratitude/thanks to those that loyally follow them.

Another way to find hidden coupon codes is to Google and see whether the store offers any special discounts for students. Did you know that Topshop, J. Crew, and ASOS all offer student discounts?! It’s true. Topshop is actually offering a 20% discount for students right now (limited time.)

If you have highlighted, blonde or even platinum hair…you know about the dreadful reality that is brassy, yellow hair. Sure, your hair may look awesome and ash-y for a few weeks, but after showering regularly over time, the yellow tones come out to play. And it’s not pretty. If you’re looking for how to get rid of those ugly yellow tones in your hair, you’re in the right place. In this post, I’ll be teaching you how to fix that hair (at home), and give you some recommendations for the best toner for blonde hair.

If you’re looking to go blonde anytime soon, check out my post here about How to Bleach Hair at Home.  Warning: bleaching your hair is very addictive 😉

How to Use Toner for Blonde Hair + Get Rid of Brassy Color

Toner for Blonde Hair

What causes brassy hair?

Great question. Understanding what causes brassiness may help you prevent it in the future. Here are some things that may be contributing to that gnarly yellow:

  • Using hair products that aren’t right for your bleached/color-treated hair. (Especially using shampoos that contain sulfates!)
  • Swimming in chlorinated pools and sun exposure – otherwise known as some of the best things in life.
  • Showering in water with high mineral deposits.
  • Your natural hair color may be pulling through the bleach.

While some of the above things can be prevented, others cannot. Don’t worry! There are lots of fixes for brassy hair, and it’s really all about maintenance. Bleaching your hair isn’t a one-time-only deal, as you are probably going to tone your hair every 2 months or so. Quick art lesson: Yellow and Purple are opposites on the color wheel. Using purple on yellow helps to cancel the color out, and leaves hair a more neutral, white/ash blonde. It’s the same concept you use when you use green-tinted concealer/color corrector on your red breakouts. Simple (and genius!)

Keeping up with maintaining your ash blonde color can be as easy as swapping out your current shampoo/conditioner routine.

Which reminds me…

You NEED This Purple Shampoo + Conditioner!

One of my favorite drugstore haircare brands has recently released a line of products for blondes. I love the products, especially since the line includes Purple Conditioner AND deep conditioner. I’ve found in my past that brands normally only produce purple shampoo and skip the conditioner. Soooo not cool. But HASK has come to the rescue! The deep conditioner is my favorite product and makes my hair feel silky smooth while toning the color. It’s a double whammy!

Toner for Blonde Hair

I love the way these products smell and make my hair feel. Plus, I feel good about using them knowing that I’m not putting any harmful sulfates on my locks. In fact, the shampoo + conditioner is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten and drying alcohol. Whew!

These HASK products are available for purchase on the official website and at Ulta!

My Favorite Toner for Blonde Hair

There are so many different toners and dyes on the market for blondes, it can be hard to navigate. I’ve tried a lot of different brands and products and finally, have landed on one that I really like and see great results with. I’ve mentioned my magic concoction before on the blog in my How to Bleach Hair at Home post, but I’ll say it here again: Manic Panic’s Semi-Permanent Hair Dye is where it’s at.

Say what?! Hair Dye?! Don’t panic. Mixing semi-permanent hair dye with a developer (I use Volume 20) helps to dilute the purple dye, and works fast on any yellow tones in hair.

Click here to shop Manic Panic’s semi-permanent dye. It’s cheap (only $10!) and available on Amazon.

How to Use Toner Correctly

If you’re a blonde, toner is your new best friend. But how do you use it without turning your hair purple?!

The most important part of using toner and toning your hair is to use the correct amount/parts toner : developer. (If you don’t have a developer on hand, you can substitute conditioner for it.)

Here are some tips for using toner:

  • Only apply toner to the parts of your hair that are especially brassy/yellow. Usually, this will be towards your roots, and not your ends.
  • Test a small section of your hair before applying toner all over your head. Put on a timer and see what amount of time the toner needs on your hair to start working (usually about 15-20 minutes.)
  • Don’t panic if your hair does have a slight purple/silver hue after toning. It will wash out after a couple showers! (That’s the beauty of semi-permanent dye.)
  • If you’re a beginner, consider getting help from a friend/family member to reach the back of your crown/head.

How do you keep your hair from looking brassy and tired? Let me know!

If you’re anything like me, your surroundings have a huge impact on your overall mood. When I thought about living in a dorm room my freshman year of college, my stomach flipped. (Okay, that’s a bit dramatic.) I was used to my cozy, decorated bedroom back at home. Living in a dorm room caused me to become a bit creative with how I made my space feel more inviting, simply because we weren’t allowed to put any holes in the wall/paint/etc. This post will give you 5 easy dorm room decorating ideas you can use to make your space feel more like you!

If you are a college student, make sure to check out my other posts about the college lifestyle below:

5 Damage-Free Dorm Room Decorating Ideas

Dorm Room Decorating Ideas

1. Posters

Posters have been a staple dorm room decoration for decades. However, posters don’t have to be cheesy, and they are actually a really simple way to express your interests.

I had a James Dean poster hanging in my dorm room during my freshman year, and I now have a Kanye West/Kim Kardashian poster in my first apartment. I love posters, especially because there are so many to choose from and they are so inexpensive. I love being able to express my inner celebrity fangirl 😉

2. Firefly Lights

Firefly lights are the easiest way (in my opinion), to completely change the mood of your dorm room. When I lived in a dorm room, I almost always had just my lamp or firefly lights on, and never really had the overhead lights on. I did this because the fluorescent lights that are usually in dorm rooms are honestly….extremely ugly and unflattering.

I would prefer to open my blinds and have the natural light coming into my room or use my firefly lights rather than turning on the overhead fluorescents. Below are my favorite firefly lights:

3. Tapestries

One of the easiest ways to decorate your dorm room is simply just hanging up a tapestry. Tapestries are the next best thing to being able to paint your walls, which we all know isn’t allowed in dorm rooms.

Target usually has some great tapestries to choose from in the fall time, when they release their college collection of home decor. Besides that, I like to shop on Amazon throughout the year.

Pro-tip: Remember that you can’t put nails in your walls in dorm rooms, so you will need to get creative when finding a way to hang your tapestry up. My favorite way is with Command Strips/Putty.

4. Bulletin Boards

Besides being extremely cute, bulletin boards are also functional and helpful in keeping you on track of everything in college. I personally use my bulletin board to keep my to-do lists organized, display notes from home, and other quotes/words that inspire me.

Bulletin boards are extremely inexpensive and add a nice touch to a desk/homework area in your dorm room.

5. Photo Displays

If you’re anything like me, you get homesick from time to time. One of the best ways I’ve found to overcome homesickness is to keep comforting images and notes around you. I always had photos of my friends/family from home around my dorm room and it helped me to feel more connected to home, even when I was hours away.

There’s a ton of different photo displays on the market, but I particularly like these:

Tips for Decorating Your Dorm Room:

  • Make sure that your roommate is okay with what you are putting up on your side of the room. It may be on your side, but you both have to share the room and essentially look at whatever you decide to hang up/decorate with.
  • Get pieces of furniture that are multifunctional. This can be a desk stool that can have the top removed in order to store things or a bed with storage space/bins under it. Space is super tight in dorm rooms, so keep that in mind when shopping for decor/furniture.
  • Stock up on non-damaging wall hanging supplies like Command Strips. These were vital to decorating and I always find myself running out!

If you’ve been around my blog for some time now, you’ve probably heard me talk about Opinion Outpost or at least mention it. I’m a big fan of Opinion Outpost and have been using it for years now. However, I understand that some people are not familiar with the website and want me to explain the concept further and give my own Opinion Outpost review.

In this post, you will get my honest review of the website, coming from someone who actually uses the site. You can also learn more about the process for getting paid through Opinion Outpost/how it really works.

My Honest Opinion Outpost Review

Opinion Outpost Review

Make money for giving your opinions online sounds too good to be true…right? Wrong.

I can honestly say, from personal experience, that Opinion Outpost is a legitimate thing, and that if you take the opportunity to sign up and take surveys, you will eventually make money. I’ve recommended this website to my own personal friends and family. I started using the website when I was still in high school and wanting to make some extra money online for spending on the weekends. I liked the website so much because it allowed me to fill out the surveys in my free time, and I could do it from my bed since it’s all online 🙂 The following Opinion Outpost review + FAQ is written from my view only.

How much does it cost?

Joining Opinion Outpost is completely free for users to join, and sign up is easy! Once you join, you will be asked to take a “Welcome Survey” that asks questions about you in order for the website to help you be perfectly matched up to surveys.

Tip: Make sure to check your email’s spam folder after signing up in case the confirmation email is sent there

How much money can I earn from Opinion Outpost?

The amount of money that you end up earning is completely up to you and how much time you want to dedicate to it. The minimum cash out to PayPal from Opinion Outpost is $10, which equates to 100 points. I would usually complete 10-15 surveys a week and have enough points to cash out to PayPal by the end of the week.

Another thing to consider is that you will not always qualify for surveys. This can be frustrating, but Opinion Outpost is looking for a very “certain” type of person for some of their surveys. For example, they may be looking for females, over the age of 35, looking to buy a house in the next 6-12 months. If that doesn’t sound like you, you aren’t going to be recruited for surveys. Some people may get more chances and opportunities to complete surveys, simply because of their demographic.

What kind of payout can I get?

You can be paid out in a variety of different ways, including PayPal, Visa cards, Amazon and iTunes gift cards, and more. My favorite way to get paid out is with PayyPal because I can get the money transferred into my bank account to spend on anything within just a few days.

How does it work?

Businesses all over the world are constantly looking for opinions and pain-points in their product/services in order to improve the experience and brand image. They need consumers, like you and me, in order to get helpful and genuine feedback. That’s where Opinion Outpost comes in.

When you complete surveys about different product/services, businesses take the feedback and data they collected and use it to develop future marketing campaigns and more. Taking surveys gives you an opportunity to voice your opinions and feelings towards different brands, while also giving you an opportunity to make money. If you’ve ever heard of a focus group, this is the same type of concept.
