It’s the end of August (and summer!) ๐ I can’t believe it and am really upset to see this summer go. I made some awesome memories these past few months and will miss the warm weather!
Today, I’m looking back on the month of August and talking about a few of my most favorite meals that I experienced. This is a part of my series called #EmmaEats (click here to read my last #EmmaEats post!)
1. Shore Dinner at Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf
Location:129 ME-32, New Harbor, ME 04554
In case you didn’t know, I travel to Maine with my family every summer and have since I was a little girl. We are a family full of seafood lovers, and Maine is our happy place because of that.
My family pretty much visits the same handful of restaurants every summer, and one of my absolute favorite places (in the world!) is Shaw’s Fish & Lobster Wharf. (Fun fact: Shaw’s is where a scene of the movie Message in a Bottle was filmed!)
The meal I love at Shaw’s is called the Shore Dinner and entails: a boiled lobster, steamed clams, a salad, baked potato, and dinner roll. It’s a TON of food but the seafood at Shaw’s is amazing and can’t be passed up. A fresh lobster + lots ofย melted butter = happiness. ๐
2. Braised Brisket Taco at Zombie Taco
Location: Zombie Taco, 530 N LaSalle Dr, Chicago, IL 60654
I’m a big fan of Mexican food/anything taco related, so I was surprised I hadn’t tried out Zombie Taco before this month! I instantly fell in love with the atmosphere and staff at Zombie Taco and am already dreaming of going back with my girlfriends.
Zombie Taco is awesome because it’s OPEN 24 HOURS. That’s right…a 24-hour taco stand. ๐ฑ Besides that, it’s also attached to MOXY Chicago, a cool and hip downtown hotel (that I also need to have a stay-cation at soon!) that has its own bar. In addition to my tacos, I had a couple of drinks and enjoyed them just as much as my food. The ambiance is so pretty and I love how they have tons of board games around for friends/family to play with while they enjoy good food + drinks.
If you want to know exactly what I ordered, here it is: housemade chips & 3 dips, braised brisket taco, and pork carnitas taco. The tacos come as a single taco, so you can mix and match whichever meat you like (they also have a vegetarian option!) for your meal. In addition to my tacos, I had the Prickly Pear Margarita and Peppered Paloma. (The Prickly Pear Marg was my favorite – I highly recommend.)
3. House Salad at Cindy’s
Location: 12 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60603
I’ve been to Cindy’s many times before – but only just for cocktails and the amazing rooftop view! However, I had a blogger friend come in from out of town and she suggested going to Cindy’s for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu (and how easily we were seated at such a hot spot!)
I ordered the Cindy’s House Salad and added chicken, and also had a glass ofย Jolie Folle Grenache rosรฉ. It was SO GOOD – I’m already dreaming of when I can go back.
