If you’ve been following me for a while, you’d know that I am a HUGE sneakers fan. Like really…it’s getting a bit out of hand how many pairs of sneakers I have. I love running around Chicago in sneakers, working out in them (obviously), but also wearing them as a fashion statement.
Lately, I’ve been really into lightweight sneakers because they are so easy to carry around in my gym bag and make me feel weightless when I’m running or cycling. My Reebok SoleFury sneakers are in heavy rotation, and today I’m partnering with Reebok today to share with you how I #SplitFrom convention and others. (Check out my IG post for Reebok here!)
MY #SPLITFROM STORY
I’ve told this story a few times on the blog, but if you’re new here, you may not know that the city of Chicago in itself represents my own leap of faith. In middle school and high school, I was made fun of and bullied for starting anything creative (I had a YouTube channel as a preteen, had started Tumblr fashion blogs, etc.) Instead of being proud of the work I put out into the world, I was made to feel ashamed and embarrassed about not going with the flow and doing something different than my peers.
When high school came to an end, a majority of people in my grade (and all around hometown) decided to attend a big state school, where they would spend the majority of their time with the same people they had known since Pre-K. I, on the other hand, was sick of sticking to what was comfortable and wanted to meet new people in a new place. I decided to attend a school in Chicago and moved there only “knowing” one person (a distant co-worker of my mom’s.)
I was terrified of not “making it” and being extremely lonely. While I have been lonely at some points living here, with my family so far away, Chicago has made me grow as a person in more ways than I can count. I’ve made an entirely new circle of friends here, with people from all over the nation. Chicago represents change and growth for me and has definitely forced me to #SplitFrom what I knew in the past.
How I wear myย Sole Fury sneakers…
I wear sneakers almost every day and the look below is a typical “running errands” or workout look for me. I love being fashionable, while still feeling comfortable and being in my own skin.
The Reebok Sole Fury is my favorite right now because of the split cushioning aspect of it that they re-booted from their 90’s designs. The shoe feels light as a feather (my mom was shocked the first time she picked them up ๐.) Plus, they are super on-trend with their black and white design and neon laces/accents.
