Your bed and mattress are imperative to your apartment’s bedroom. The main things you will be doing in your room is studying and sleeping, so you will want to make sure that your bed is as comfortable as possible.

I ordered my mattress pad from Amazon, and it came packed tightly in a cardboard box that was easily delivered to my door with Prime.

Tip: make sure that you get the right size mattress/mattress pad for your bed! It’s an easy mistake to make.

2. Desk

Perhaps the second most important piece of furniture is your bedroom’s desk.

Make sure that you measure the room before you order a desk because some desks can be extremely over-sized in person.

3. Seating

In college, friends are constantly coming over to hang out at each other’s apartments. Unfortunately, there’s not always a lot of space, so having extra seating that you can pull out at any time is extremely helpful.

I loved having chairs in my room that I knew I could pull out at any time to accommodate my friends. And especially comfy ones!

Tip: Try to find chairs that you can fold up and pack into small spaces like a closet, or under your bed.

4. Bookcase

The main reason you’re at school is to learn, right?!

So, you’ll need a bookcase or bookshelf to hold all of your textbooks and study guides. Luckily, there are a lot of inexpensive options out there that are both cute and functional.

Tip: You can also decorate easily with bookcases by putting little trinkets and plants/succulents on the shelves.

5. Nightstand

Don’t forget the nightstand!

Every inch of space in your apartment counts. Nightstands help a lot with organizing clutter and night-time essentials like lip balm, hand lotion, etc.

Tip: It’s also helpful to have a nightlight that you can turn on in the middle of the night when you have to make a run to the bathroom.
