I’m going to be honest…I’ve been feeling pretty stressed lately. It’s my senior year of school and although I’m currently on a break from classes, I constantly find myself stressing about the future. I’m notoriously afraid of change and uncertainty really messes with me.
That’s why I was SO excited when I recently got the opportunity to treat myself to a staycation at The Willows Chicago. I planned for the staycation all week and made sure to clear my schedule for the night so I could really relax and enjoy just taking time to be by myself.
The Willows is located in Lincoln Park and has actually been around since the 1920s! (It’s even rumored that Al Capone used to stay there – crazy.) However, The Willows recently got a top-to-bottom renovation (new lobby furnishings, enhanced lighting, window treatments, linens, carpeting, and beautiful custom artwork.) I was invited to check out the new renovations and was seriously impressed by The Willows and how cozy it was!
My favorite part of the hotel (besides the great location – close to Starbucks, Stan’s Donuts, Francesca’s, Urban Outfitters, etc.) was the lobby. It was completely decked out for the Christmas season – with a live tree and roaring fireplace. The moment I stepped into The Willows, I felt welcomed and taken care of. The 24/7 desk staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. (They even had fresh baked chocolate-chip cookies for the guests so the entire lobby smelled AMAZING – you can’t beat that. ๐)
Upon my arrival, I actually got the chance to speak to the regional manager and hear about the renovations/history of the hotel. The design of the hotel was extremely well-thought out and decorated with funky animal prints on every floor because of the hotel’s close proximity to Lincoln Park Zoo. The hotel also offers a continental breakfast for it’s guests every morning and a fully stocked coffee bar around the clock.
I spent my time at The Willows relaxing in my room with a hotel robe on (I can’t resist) and catching up on my favorite TV shows. It was extremely nice to have time to myself and catch a breath from the craziness of life for a night. I definitely recommend The Willows to both
