It’s no secret that I love all things skin and skincare. I’m a product junkie and literally have a tub of skincare products I rotate through every morning and night. Besides trying new products, I also love to try out new facials and spa treatments to take my skincare to the next level.
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’d know that I’ve struggled with acne in the past and in the past year or two have calmed my acne down with regular chemical peels (read more on that here.) However, I don’t have a ton of active acne now and am more so just trying to get my skin to a good place, where it’s even, smooth, and pretty!
That’s why I was so excited when MAE Plastic Surgery/Transcend MedSpa reached out to me to come into their office and try out a facial. I can’t say no to a good facial and was intrigued to learn more about Transcend MedSpa and the services they offer.
I headed out to Northbrook for my appointment last month and loved the office and the friendly staff. My aesthetician was Edyta Mitera (licensed since 2002!), the nicest woman who helped me understand exactly what was going on during my appointment. Edyta welcomed me into the treatment room and got to examining my skin. She quickly realized my acne scars and recommended that we try out the Transcend facial for my first visit to the spa.
The best part about the Transcend facial is that there is absolutely no downtime! I’ve had readers message me in the past and ask questions about how often I get facials/how long it takes to recover. While not all facials are the same, I can confirm that I had no downtime/peeling/anything after the Transcend facial.
Edyta got started on my skin and first explained to me the benefits of dermaplaning (gently scraping off the top layer of dulling dead skin cells.) I had heard/seen other people getting dermaplaned before, but had never had it done myself. But let me just say, after Edyta dermaplaned my skin…I’m HOOKED. First of all, it doesn’t hurt at all (in case the word “scraping” scared you.) My skin was baby-smooth after the quick dermaplane and I was amazed when Edyta showed me all the peach fuzz + dead skin she had removed. (Major plus: after dermaplaning, your makeup goes on super smooth and even!)
Then, it was time for the HydraFacial part of the Transcend facial. Since Edyta dermaplaned my skin, the HydraFacial was able to really sink in and go to work on my new, fresh layer of skin revealed after scraping. In case you haven’t heard of a HydraFacial before, it’s an awesome process that combines advanced hydradermabrasion with a chemical peel, automated pore extractions, and a powerful application of serums rich with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid. I have oily/combination skin, but HydraFacial is suitable for all different kinds of skin types and heals a range of issues without discomfort.
Edyta walked me through every step of the HydraFacial and always made sure I knew what was going on. After all the steps were done, she did a few extractions and made sure I left the office with clean, fresh, and hydrated skin.
After my HydraFacial, I noticed my skin was extremely smooth (thanks, dermaplaning!) and also hydrated. All my oily skin girls out there know that there’s a thin line between oily and hydrated…and HydraFacial made sure I woke up with hydrated, not GREASY, skin.
Overall, I totally loved the Transcend facial and the entire staff (especially my aesthetician, Edyta!) at Transcend MedSpa. Their website is jam-packed with information about all of their services and you can even schedule a consultation online, so I highly recommend checking it out.
