Happy New Year, everyone! I know, I know…it’s February and I’m just now getting around to saying it on the blog. I’ve been very active on my Instagram, but am just now sitting down with the time to write this post. I hope 2020 has been a good year to all so far.
I’m not the biggest person to set New Year’s Resolutions, but I do believe in goal-setting and practice this in both my personal and professional life. One lifestyle change I have shifted towards making in 2020 is the decision to purchase quality over quantity.
The term “quality over quantity” is one I feel I hear all the time, but I’m just now coming around to see the real value in it. The phrase can apply to many things, like when it comes to choosing friends, or in this case, fashion/clothing items. In 2020, I’m consciously making an effort to think twice before relying so heavily on fast-fashion items. I’m choosing to do this for a multitude of reasons, like sustainability and eco-consciousness. However, I’m mainly choosing to do this because I’m tired of purchasing items that don’t last from season to season.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’d already know that my personal style is focused around on a lot of classic styles and neutral colors, so this philosophy hasn’t been the hardest to implement as I already find myself repeating and re-wearing items in my closest all the time.
One brand that I’ve recently fallen in love with is Universal Standard. I was introduced to this brand earlier this year when they opened their storefront in Chicago. I had heard buzz about the brand from other fashion bloggers that were raving about the store’s unique concept and approach to making fashion for everyone.
After hearing all the praise for Universal Standard, I was recently fortunate enough to try out the brand for myself and have been pleasantly surprised. From the website experience to the actual quality of the clothing pieces themselves, I have a newfound love for Universal Standard. If you head over to their website, you’ll quickly realize that every product in their collection is available in size 00 to 40. (Yes, you read that correctly!) I love this so much about the brand, especially as a tall girl who struggles to find the right fit. In addition to their amazing sizing, the website also offers a “See It in Your Size feature”, where with one click, you can see items on models in your size…gamechanger.
I styled a few pieces from Universal Standard and they’ve gotten my stamp of approval (I’ve been wearing the Tee Rex on repeat – so stretchy and gets softer after every wash!) Featured in this post are also the Kelsey Denim Jacket and Seine Skinny Jean.
Let me know: have you ever shopped at Universal Standard before? If so, what was your experience like, and are you more of a quality or quantity type of girl?
