It’s officially after Thanksgiving and for me, that’s really it turns into a countdown to Christmas. ๐ I love the holiday season and everyone that comes with it. There are so many fun things to do in the city, so I wanted to organize them all here on the blog for you all to reference throughout the next couple of months.
Want to see what I get up to in Chicago during the holidays? Make sure you’re following me here on Instagram.
1. Go see How the Grinch Stole Christmas Musical
Attending musicals in downtown Chicago is so much fun and one of my favorite things to do with friends. My friends and I like to make a night out of it and go out to a nice dinner before the show. Recently, I got to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas at the Chicago Theater and loved it. They did such a great job recreating the Grinch and I loved the music. Plus, it was so fun to see all the kids and families getting into the holiday spirit.
The musical is only in Chicago for a few more days so click here for more information and for purchasing tickets.
2. Browse the Christkindl Market
I have to be honest: I’ve never been to the Christkindl Market in Chicago but I’ve seen so many pictures from the past and it looks amazing! (I’ve also had friends attend and they love it.) It’s my goal to try and make it down this year so I can check it out for myself. Either way – it’s such a cool concept and very festive.
3. Ride the CTA Holiday Train
If you have never been on the CTA holiday train before – you are seriously missing out. It’s one of my favorite things about the holidays in Chicago and nothing makesย me happier than seeing the train come towards the platform. There’s no real to “plan” for this – but I take the CTA all the time and usually get to either see/ride the train once or twice a year.
4. Ice Skate at Winter Wonderfest
I attended Winter Wonderfest last year for the first time ever and loved it! Basically, Winter Wonderfest happens every year at Navy Pier and is described as the “biggest indoor winter playground.” At Wonderfest, you can go ice skating, ride carnival rides, say hi to Santa, and more. There are so many things to do!
5. Attend the Nutcracker
A fun fact about my childhood is that my parents took my sister and meย to see the Nutcracker every year in downtown Cleveland. We don’t go every year like we used to when I was little, but my mom still plays the soundtrack all December long. I love the balletย and was so excited to learn that the Joffrey Ballet does a performance in Chicago. (Also – A & A ballet does an “Art Deco Nutcracker performance. I was invited to attend but couldn’t make it this year – check out details here.)
I hope you all have a wonderful start to the Christmas season!ย
“The saying isย trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesusย came into the world to save sinners,ย of whom I am the foremost.ย “But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.ย Toย the King of the ages,ย immortal,ย invisible,ย the only God,ย be honor and glory forever and ever.”
