If you’ve been following me for awhile now, you’d know that I absolutely LOVE staying at hotels. For me, a hotel is an oasis where you get to hit the “pause” button on life and focus on just relaxing and recharging in a beautiful space.
Recently, I was invited to check out the brand new triple-brand Hilton Hotels at McCormick Place in Chicago, and I couldn’t say no. The new Hilton Hotels are connected to McCormick Place, (North America’s largest convention center), and adjacent to Wintrust Arena (the venue for my graduation in spring 2019!) Luckily, I had a girl friend visiting me from out of town this weekend, so I was able to bring her along to my staycation at the The Hiltons at McCormick Place. Our stay was nothing short of AMAZING and I can’t stop gushing about it.
First of all, the hotel itself is extremely updated, elegant, and modern. I loved the lobby design the minute I stepped foot inside (and the fact that they have a Starbucks attached to the lobby!) My girl friend and I enjoyed a swift check-in and were whisked away to our suite on the 20th floor. We fell IN LOVE with the view from our window, and it didn’t hurt that there was two wine glasses + red wine waiting for us inside the suite. 😉🍷
The view from the room was EVERYTHING and we were so happy we got there in time to watch the sunset (also, not to be that person BUT – the Instagram photos we got at night with the city skyline in the background were pretty bomb, too.) After getting settled into our room, my friend and I decided to get ready for dinner and head up to VU Skyward Bev & Eat – the rooftop restaurant/bar attached to the hotel.
VU was one of my favorite parts of the staycation just because of how chic and totally unexpected it was. We rode a separate elevator up to VU and when we walked through the doors, were completely surprised by just how many people were there, laughing, eating/drinking, and having a good time. It was such an amazing atmosphere and the views of the city from that high up were breathtaking.
The food and cocktails were also delicious – I definitely recommend trying out the Fingerling Potatoes (Chile Oil, Cotija Cheese, Achiote Aioli) and Buttermilk Fried Chicken Thighs (Sweet Chile, Fresno, Celery, Sesame.) My girlfriend and I decided to go out in downtown Chicago after dinner, but honestly, we could’ve spent the whole night at VU and been perfectly happy.
I completely recommend The Hiltons at McCormick Place and loved every minute of my stay. If you are ever looking for a place to stay in South Loop: check this place out!
