No, this isn’t a false alarm. And yes, you read the title of this blog post correctly. You can actually get paid to shop at all of your favorite stores.

I stumbled upon this method a few months ago randomly, and I seriously regret not doing this earlier. I’ve saved so much money since discovering this website…so today I’m sharing it with you.

Are you a shopaholic? Check out my post here about 3 life hacks for shopping online here.

How I Get Paid to Shop at My Favorite Stores

How to Get Paid to Shop

The key to getting paid to shop is to use a cashback rebate website/app. My favorite option is Ebates, because of how easy it is, and the high payout rates. It also helps you find the best coupons online at the same time, so you can be sure you’re getting the best deal possible.

What is Ebates?

Ebates is a cash back website that does all of the hard work and couponing for you. It allows you to earn cash back when you shop, and pays you via PayPal or check. You can earn up to 40% cashback at some retailers through Ebates…which is almost unheard of in the cashback world.

How to Make Ebates Work for You

My most favorite part about Ebates (aside from getting money back for shopping at Sephora) is how easy it is. Ebates makes it extremely easy to use their service so that you never have to worry about forgetting to get cashback on your everyday purchases.

  1. Click here to sign up for Ebates. They will ask for your email address…it’s simple as that.
  2. Download the Ebates Chrome Extension. This will let you automatically be alerted whenever you click on a website that partners with Ebates and offers cashback. The Chrome Extension will also search for the best coupons on the web for you when checking out, so you don’t have to.
  3. Surf the web + shop at your favorite stores like normal. When you see the visual below, you’ll know that your about to get some cash just by shopping! Just click “Activate” and checkout like normal. After, you can log into your Ebates account to see how much cash you got back + check your total balance.

Where I Like to Shop with Ebates

Below are some of my favorite stores to shop at with Ebates. I’ve included the cashback percentage next to each store, but keep in mind that Ebates is constantly being changed and updated, with special deals + “double cashback” retailers happening weekly. (So you could be earning even more than what I listed.) In fact, when I’m writing this post, Ebates is now offering 15% cashback on tons of stores for a limited time.

Amazon (3% Cashback)

Ulta  (3% Cashback)

Sephora (4% Cashback)

Groupon (6% Cashback)

Saks Fifth Avenue (4% Cashback)

Missguided (4% Cashback)

I’m a college girl on a budget, but let’s be real: I love fashion + shopping. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved getting new pieces, playing around with my outfits, and getting fashion inspiration from celebrities. I decided to share my all time favorite brands with you all, so you can always refer back to this post for all of my personal recommendations.

The brands + retailers listed below are my absolute favorite places to shop at. I’m constantly checking these websites for new arrivals, and count on them to carry new trends.

Get Paid to Shop!

If you want to get money back when shopping online, make sure to use Ebates! I use Ebates every time that I shop online because it essentially pays me to shop. Ebates lets me earn money back from my purchases, and get paid via PayPal. Ebates changed my online shopping game and I. LOVE. IT.

All Time Favorite Brands

All Time Favorite Brands

My All Time Favorite Brands: Clothing + Beauty

Retailers

Nordstrom: It’s no secret that Nordstrom has some of the best customer service around. I love every experience I have shopping at Nordstrom (whether in-person or online), because of how accommodating and helpful they are. Also, you can buy almost anything at Nordstrom, and it’s almost always high quality and perfect!

ASOS: This website carries a huge range and catalog of products, and they are super trendy. ASOS also has an awesome clearance section that is constantly being updated and added to.

Sephora: Sephora is my ultimate guilty pleasure. At any given time, I have a running wishlist of things I want to purchase from Sephora. Like Nordstrom, Sephora is always super helpful and the people that work there are incredibly talented and knowledgeable. Plus, I love their rewards program + getting point perks! (Plus you can get 4% cashback from Sephora via Ebates!)

Ulta: One thing I love about Ulta is that I can shop for my favorite high-end and drugstore products all in the same place. Plus, they carry OPI which is my favorite nail polish brand.

Clothing Brands

Topshop: Topshop is great for denim (which I will dive into later), but also has other great styles. My favorites at Topshop are their dresses, jackets, and basics. It’s easy to spend hours getting lost in the Topshop website.

Forever 21: As much as I try to avoid the chaos that is Forever 21, it can sometimes be worth it. If I’m ever looking for a quick, trendy, outfit, I know I can count on Forever 21. Their accessories are the bomb, too.

Boohoo: This is probably my current all-time favorite clothing brand. Boohoo is a UK brand, but their shipping to the US isn’t bad, and the styles they come out with are KILLER. I love Boohoo with all my heart and tell all my friends about it.

Sorella Boutique: This is a clothing brand that gets it. I love how on-trend they are, and I also love following the brand on social media (especially their Instagram.) Their team understands trends and executes them well.

ZARA: I really love ZARA’s graphic tees and their outerwear. The sizing can be a little confusing, but it’s worth figuring it out to find something you love.

Denim

Topshop: I am extremely tall (almost 6 foot), so denim can be hard to find for me. Lots of brands have jeans that only come to the top of my ankles…which just won’t do. Luckily, Topshop offers different cuts of denim for all different body types. I love their Jamie Tall jeans!

American Eagle Outfitters: AEO is one of the rare brands that can accommodate my body type. I like buying American Eagle jeans for more trendier washes and cuts.

Shoes

Steve Madden: Steve Madden is my staple shoe brand. I feel like they really excel in making classic shoes, and the quality is great for the price.

Nike: I am somewhat addicted to sneakers and tennis shoes, and Nike is one of my favorite brands. I especially love their Free Run shoes and Air Force 1’s. Plus, you can get a WHOPPING 9.5% CASH BACK with Ebates at Nike. That’s almost 10% of what you spend back into your bank account!

Public Desire: What I love most about Public Desire is how trendy they are. They aren’t cheesy, and really understand what’s hot. They also offer a great student discount for all you college girls out there!

Beauty

NARS: NARS is my go-to brand for face products. My favorite bronzer ever is NARS Laguna, and I also use their blushes and liquid highlighters. They nail it! (Ebates offers 5% cash back with NARS!)

tarte cosmetics: This is a brand that has been consistently impressing me with their beauty products. I love their highlighting palette and brushes. I’m excited to try out more tarte products in the future. (You can get 4% cash back with Ebates here!)

MAC Cosmetics: I’ve been buying MAC products since I first allowed to wear makeup in middle school. Their eyeshadows are a staple, but my favorite MAC products are actually their face powders. The powder is so finely milled that it gives your face an almost air-brushed look, without looking cakey.

Benefit Cosmetics: Besides the amazing packaging, Benefit’s products are top-notch. I especially like Benefit’s boxed blushes, and “They’re Real!” is one of my favorite mascaras of all-time.

Mario Badescu: This brand is my tried and true skincare buddy. I love Mario Badescu for a range of different products, especially the Silver Powder, Drying Lotion, and Rosewater. All of Mario Badescu’s products leave my combination/oily skin feeling fresh.

Home

Urban Outfitters: Ah, if only my apartment could look like an Urban Outfitter’s store display. I love checking in on Urban Outfitter’s Home Decor and looking for fun little accessories like firefly lights, tapestries, and kitchen supplies.

Target: Target has seriously stepped their home section up and I’m totally here for it. The best part about Target’s home decor is that it’s almost always super affordable, and on-trend.

Pier 1 Imports: Pier 1 is awesome for quality home decor. I have a few treasured items from Pier 1 that I plan on keeping for years to come.

Etsy: Don’t forget about Etsy! You can find the cutest + most unique pieces on this website to fit every lifestyle.

IKEA: I like to shop at IKEA for furniture because, well, let’s face it: it’s cheap. I’m a college student and I get a lot of my basic furniture like nightstands/desks from IKEA. However, my bed + mattress are both from Amazon.

If we’re being honest…I may be slightly addicted to online clothes shopping. There’s just something about being able to visit all my favorite store’s websites in the comfort of my own bed that I love. And receiving the package full of fun, new clothes a week later is also amazing. However, I know that shopping online can sometimes be frustrating and expensive. No one likes spending their time + money on new clothes, waiting for them to arrive, only to be disappointed by something that doesn’t fit or look good on your body.

I’ve learned a few different hacks during my time of shopping online and am going to share them with you all today. These tips will make your online shopping experience a TON easier, and you’ll kick yourself in the butt for not knowing about them sooner.

3 Hacks for Online Clothes Shopping on a BudgetOnline Clothes Shopping Hacks

1. Cash Back Rebates

This online clothes shopping hack literally changed my life. I was so shocked to find out that some of my most favorite retailers like Ulta, Bath & Body Works, Sephora, and Forever 21 offered cash back on online purchases. (If you’re still not understanding: you can get MONEY BACK on purchases you make online at your favorite stores. Score!)

My favorite site to get cash back at is Ebates, and I’ve been using it for almost a year now. Ebates gets a commission from stores whenever they make a sale, and instead of keeping the commission, they give it back to you, the consumer!

Ebates easily installs into your web browser and displays itself as an icon. Whenever you see the Ebates icon light up in your browser tab, you know that you are on a retailer’s website that partners with Ebates, which means you can earn cash back on whatever purchase you are about to make. All you have to do after seeing the Ebates icon light up is click on it, and click the big button that says “Activate Cash Back.” That’s it!

Any purchases you make while Ebates is activated will translate into cash back into your Ebates account. You can log into your Ebates account at any time and see what your cash back balance is. Then, Ebates will send you your cash back as a check or directly via PayPal. Ebates also has certain “double cash back” stores that offer a higher percentage of money back.

Another amazing thing about Ebates is that it constantly keeps you updated on all the best deals + sales happening at your favorite stores. I’ve saved so much money by just checking Ebates for free shipping + coupon codes alone.

2. Like to Know It

Ready for your mind to be blown AGAIN? Prepare to meet your new best friend: Like to Know It.

If there are any bells going off in your head, it’s probably because you’ve seen the words Like to Know It a million times before. Most of the biggest bloggers on social media these days use Like to Know It, and mention it regularly on their own blog + social media.

So what’s the big deal? And why is everyone always linking to Like to Know It anyways?!

Like to Know It is an innovative application that allows people to easily shop pieces that their favorite fashion bloggers/influencers post. Have you ever gone to a famous Instagrammers page and seen the hundreds of comments from people asking where a particular dress/top/bag is from? Well, Like to Know It fixes all of that.

728x90

After downloading the Like to Know It application, you can screenshot photos from any of your favorite bloggers/Instagrammers to shop. Once you screenshot someone’s photo who is using Like to Know It, you will get a notification from the Like to Know It app that you can now shop this outfit. When opening the app, you will be able to see the exact pieces/clothing that the blogger was wearing, with everything easily linked in order to visit the online shop + purchase. How COOL is that?!

Online Clothes Shopping

My online shopping has changed so much after discovering Like to Know It. I never have to lust after another fashion blogger’s outfit now, because I can find out exactly where they bought everything and see if I want it for myself. The confusion is completely taken away and it’s GREAT.

I personally use Like to Know It for my blog + social media, so if you’re ever wondering where I got something I’m wearing in an Instagram post, just screenshot it and open the Like to Know It app!

3. Find Hidden Discounts

Brands are very strategic about the discounts and coupon codes they distribute. Sure, there are some sales that are widely advertised, and you probably find out about them through an email newsletter. But there are often coupon codes and deals going on all the time, they are just somewhat hidden.

Coupon codes can be hidden in different ways. One way to find them is to check the brand/retailer’s social media platforms for any promotions. A lot of times, brands will run promotions exclusively for their social media followers to show their gratitude/thanks to those that loyally follow them.

Another way to find hidden coupon codes is to Google and see whether the store offers any special discounts for students. Did you know that Topshop, J. Crew, and ASOS all offer student discounts?! It’s true. Topshop is actually offering a 20% discount for students right now (limited time.)

If you have highlighted, blonde or even platinum hair…you know about the dreadful reality that is brassy, yellow hair. Sure, your hair may look awesome and ash-y for a few weeks, but after showering regularly over time, the yellow tones come out to play. And it’s not pretty. If you’re looking for how to get rid of those ugly yellow tones in your hair, you’re in the right place. In this post, I’ll be teaching you how to fix that hair (at home), and give you some recommendations for the best toner for blonde hair.

If you’re looking to go blonde anytime soon, check out my post here about How to Bleach Hair at Home.  Warning: bleaching your hair is very addictive 😉

How to Use Toner for Blonde Hair + Get Rid of Brassy Color

Toner for Blonde Hair

What causes brassy hair?

Great question. Understanding what causes brassiness may help you prevent it in the future. Here are some things that may be contributing to that gnarly yellow:

  • Using hair products that aren’t right for your bleached/color-treated hair. (Especially using shampoos that contain sulfates!)
  • Swimming in chlorinated pools and sun exposure – otherwise known as some of the best things in life.
  • Showering in water with high mineral deposits.
  • Your natural hair color may be pulling through the bleach.

While some of the above things can be prevented, others cannot. Don’t worry! There are lots of fixes for brassy hair, and it’s really all about maintenance. Bleaching your hair isn’t a one-time-only deal, as you are probably going to tone your hair every 2 months or so. Quick art lesson: Yellow and Purple are opposites on the color wheel. Using purple on yellow helps to cancel the color out, and leaves hair a more neutral, white/ash blonde. It’s the same concept you use when you use green-tinted concealer/color corrector on your red breakouts. Simple (and genius!)

Keeping up with maintaining your ash blonde color can be as easy as swapping out your current shampoo/conditioner routine.

Which reminds me…

You NEED This Purple Shampoo + Conditioner!

One of my favorite drugstore haircare brands has recently released a line of products for blondes. I love the products, especially since the line includes Purple Conditioner AND deep conditioner. I’ve found in my past that brands normally only produce purple shampoo and skip the conditioner. Soooo not cool. But HASK has come to the rescue! The deep conditioner is my favorite product and makes my hair feel silky smooth while toning the color. It’s a double whammy!

Toner for Blonde Hair

I love the way these products smell and make my hair feel. Plus, I feel good about using them knowing that I’m not putting any harmful sulfates on my locks. In fact, the shampoo + conditioner is free of sulfates, parabens, phthalates, gluten and drying alcohol. Whew!

These HASK products are available for purchase on the official website and at Ulta!

My Favorite Toner for Blonde Hair

There are so many different toners and dyes on the market for blondes, it can be hard to navigate. I’ve tried a lot of different brands and products and finally, have landed on one that I really like and see great results with. I’ve mentioned my magic concoction before on the blog in my How to Bleach Hair at Home post, but I’ll say it here again: Manic Panic’s Semi-Permanent Hair Dye is where it’s at.

Say what?! Hair Dye?! Don’t panic. Mixing semi-permanent hair dye with a developer (I use Volume 20) helps to dilute the purple dye, and works fast on any yellow tones in hair.

Click here to shop Manic Panic’s semi-permanent dye. It’s cheap (only $10!) and available on Amazon.

How to Use Toner Correctly

If you’re a blonde, toner is your new best friend. But how do you use it without turning your hair purple?!

The most important part of using toner and toning your hair is to use the correct amount/parts toner : developer. (If you don’t have a developer on hand, you can substitute conditioner for it.)

Here are some tips for using toner:

  • Only apply toner to the parts of your hair that are especially brassy/yellow. Usually, this will be towards your roots, and not your ends.
  • Test a small section of your hair before applying toner all over your head. Put on a timer and see what amount of time the toner needs on your hair to start working (usually about 15-20 minutes.)
  • Don’t panic if your hair does have a slight purple/silver hue after toning. It will wash out after a couple showers! (That’s the beauty of semi-permanent dye.)
  • If you’re a beginner, consider getting help from a friend/family member to reach the back of your crown/head.

How do you keep your hair from looking brassy and tired? Let me know!
